May–June Class Series

Do It Yourself

About the Series

VIRTUAL: Sundays May 10 + 17 and June 7, 14, + 21 at 7–9pm ET / 4–6pm PT. Can’t make class time? Recordings will be sent to students who register in advance.

You can register for the whole series (at a discount) or just the classes you want.

May is International Masturbation Month, and we’re thinking expansively about how we can play, explore, and have meaningful experiences on our own. Our first class provides a broad overview of the what, why, and how of solo kink, with scene ideas and essential tips for being your own best play partner. The other four classes are deep dives, each featuring a different instructor and focusing on a different solo practice: discipline and ritual through collaring, engaging the senses with rope, finding desire and boundaries through self-consent, and building an aftercare practice. This series is designed for players of all levels and relationship styles, especially those who:

  • want to enjoy deeper, more intentional play — with or without a partner

  • play alone or long-distance & want more tools for doing so

  • sometimes struggle to feel more grounded in their own desires, fantasies, & rituals, & want to feel more connected

  • don’t always get their needs met with partners, & want to take care of themselves

These five classes work well together, but you can enjoy them separately! Each class is sliding scale, and you get a discount when you sign up for the full series.

Please note: I’m trying to shift to a sliding-scale model to make my classes accessible to more people! If you want this model to stick around, please consider paying above the suggested price, which helps me cover costs while keeping prices low for those in need.

May 10: Playing with Ourselves: Power & Possibilities in Solo Kink — with Dagger

Sunday May 10 at 7–9pm ET / 4–6pm PT

Solo play can help us get our needs met in the absence of fulfilling partnered play — or it can be a thrilling journey all its own, instead of or in addition to exploring with others. While most kink classes follow a top/bottom model, where you’re either doing or being done to, this class explores how we can top, bottom, voyeur, show off, roleplay, and even experiment with fear and predicament on our own — from perving in the privacy of our own bathroom to under-the-radar play in public to extravagant solo displays. We’ll discuss different frameworks for thinking about solo play, cover some common practices and safety considerations, and examine some real-life scenes as inspiration for future play.

May 17: Self-Collaring is for You! Yes, You! — with citronics

Sunday May 17 at 7–9pm ET / 4–6pm PT

Collaring can be a way to express and deepen connection, devotion, and discipline between Dominant and submissive — but what would it mean to collar ourselves? Join citronics as we explore self-collaring as a tool for doms, subs, switches, and those still figuring it all out. This practice is a great way to take inventory of our selves and desires, build self-discipline, figure out what we want in our relationships with ourselves and with others, and build protocol and ritual into our lives — from big steps to quotidian moments like simply brushing our teeth.

About the instructor: citronics is a sadomasochist living in Brooklyn. He often finds himself in service to collaborative spaces for newer community members — from teaching classes and training dungeon monitors to helping newbies navigate their local communities — and he can't help but share what he's found along his leather journey. He's taught before and he'll do it again.

June 7: Creating Meaningful Self-Tying Experiences — with Knotty Gal

Sunday June 7 at 7–9pm ET / 4–6pm PT

Self-tying can be great — but without the right skills, it may feel more like “practice time” than an enjoyable, just-for-you experience. This class teaches self-tying as a “scene with yourself” that can include deep, emotional experiences as well as physical fun. We’ll learn to negotiate (yes, really!), set up your space for success, create emotions in a solo scene, and practice self aftercare. There will be a guided self-tying exercise to practice what we learn. All skill levels are welcome, but it may be helpful to know a non-collapsing single-column tie and a few basic hitches. (We will briefly review these in class, but they will not be taught in detail.)

If you want to participate in the self-tying exercise, you should have the following materials on hand: 2x long ropes (roughly 30ft), 2x short ropes (roughly 15ft), safety shears for quickly cutting rope if needed, marlin spike if needed to help undo knots. You may use more, less, or different lengths of rope if you wish!

About the instructor: Knotty Gal (she/her) is an introverted poly crip and cat-loving queer with over five years of experience presenting playful and powerful classes for the kink community. KG has presented for Rochester Erotic Arts Festival, Kink Between the Lines, Let it Reign, Dark Odyssey Fusion and Summer Camp, Fornucopia, and numerous kink groups around New York State. As a gleeful sadomasochistic switch, Knotty Gal emphasizes creative outlooks on kink. She makes her classes accessible, fun, and participatory while teaching topics like rope, kink and chronic pain, and how to best utilize tiny hands in a scene.

June 14: Consent with Me & Myself — with Mia Schachter

Sunday June 14 at 7–9pm ET / 4–6pm PT

Consent is more than checking in with a partner; it’s an important practice that shows up in nearly every area of life, and doing it well means knowing how to feel and practice consent with yourself. This class will get nitty gritty with decision-making. It will provide tools for checking in with yourself and getting in touch with your yes, your no, your maybe, and everything in between. We’ll go over the Yes-to-No Spectrum, consent beyond permission, curiosity, exploration, and trial and error. How do you know what you like until you’ve tried it?

About the instructor: Mia is an author, multi-media artist, and intimacy coordinator for TV, film, and theater. It’s their mission to make consent education as digestible and widely available as possible so you can identify your desires, needs, and boundaries and authentically express them to others in your own unique voice. Relationships are their life’s work.

June 21: Aftercare: Solo Edition — with Dagger

Sunday June 21 at 7–9pm ET / 4–6pm PT

Most of us learn aftercare as something you do with a partner: First you share an intense experience, then you take care of each other. Often, however, our partner can’t fill that need: They’re late for work, they need alone time, they have another play date, they’re a hundred miles away, what you want isn’t something they can do — or you’ve been playing solo, and a partner isn’t in the picture at all. Whatever the reason, learning solo aftercare can be a game-changer. This class offers tools and exercises for feeling and naming our aftercare needs, experimenting with different techniques, finding a routine that works, and improving aftercare communication with partners and others who need to know.

What to Expect:

All virtual classes are live on Zoom. You’ll receive everything you need via email as soon as you register. Most are two hours long, including time for Q&A. Can’t make the class time? As long as you register by class time (or for a series, as long as you register by the final class), you’ll get access to the recording. Recordings will be available to watch until the next series of classes begins. After that, the only way to access them will be via the recorded class library on Patreon. (Classes get added there two months after the original series.) For more information on recordings, check the FAQ.

Get Licked! is for everyone: queer, straight, trans, cis, binary, non, monogamous, polyamorous, kinky, vanilla, and all other folks are welcome. Be kind to each other and help each other learn. We are here in community.

Many classes include activities to help you grasp material and build skills. Participation is encouraged, but never required. Listen to your body, and do what feels good for you.
