January Class Series:
Back to Basics
About the Series

What differentiates a D/s scene that builds our connection from one that leaves us feeling flat? How do we balance the demands of our role with our needs for fulfillment and spontaneity? This series offers original frameworks for understanding dominance, submission, and switching and how each of us relates to our role. We’ll tackle problematic narratives about what it means to exchange power, learn to balance partners’ desires, and work through live and written exercises for naming and claiming what we want from our play. It’s designed for players of all power roles and experience levels, especially those who:
struggle with burnout or insecurity in their D/s play
are new to BDSM and want a solid foundation for exploring
feel nervous asking for what they want in kinky scenes
are so focused on “doing it right” that it’s hard to be fully present
These four classes work great together or separately. You get a discount when you register for the full series, and when you register at least a week before class starts.

Negotiation for Kinksters
Sunday January 4 at 7–9pm ET / 4–6pm PT
Pretty much every Kink 101 teaches us that consent and negotiation are mandatory steps before a scene — but the tools we learn fall short when it comes to real-world experiences. Can mentally ill players do “safe, sane, consensual” BDSM? What does “risk-aware” kink actually look like? What if our feelings change mid-scene, or our safeword fails? This class offers a more nuanced, useful dive into consent and negotiation, designed to make your play (and the lead-up to it) safer, hotter, and more joyful for everyone involved. You’ll leave with everything you need to negotiate play fluently, without overthinking or missing crucial steps.

Inflict, Instruct, Indulge: Confidence & Desire for Dominants
Sunday January 11 at 7–9pm ET / 4–6pm PT
Dominance isn’t easy; even professionals with decades of experience often struggle to stay connected to their desires and boundaries. This class helps players of all experience levels break away from common, counterproductive myths about what dominants do, where our power comes from, and what “real dominance” looks like, so we can deepen our capacity for pleasure, play, and personal connection. We’ll examine the four different modes of dominant interaction (and learn to notice which one we’re in) and use group exercises to boost our most important dom skills: confidence, honesty, and curiosity. Although focused on dominant and switchy players, this class will also be useful to submissives who want to better serve their dominant partners.

From Service to Surrender: Submission Beyond Passivity
Sunday January 18 at 7–9pm ET / 4–6pm PT
From bootblacks and body worshipers who provide active service to human pets, dolls, and ashtrays who crave dehumanization, submission can involve a complex range of deep, sometimes contradictory impulses, and it can look very different from sub to sub and scene to scene. This class busts myths, breaks down different modes of active and passive submission, and explores four major themes in submissive desire: to be passive, to be useful, to be reduced, and to belong. Although focused on submissive and switchy players, this class will also be helpful for dominants who want to enhance their negotiation and scene-planning skills and better understand their submissive partners.

Fluid Dynamics: Navigating Switching
Sunday January 25 at 7–9pm ET / 4–6pm PT
Power play isn’t a binary, and most people don’t fit neatly into boxes labeled “sub” or “dom,” “bottom” or “top.” This class examines switching — moving or living between roles — as a preference, a practice, an identity, and a relationship dynamic. We’ll explore what switching can look like in different contexts, such as within a single scene, within a power relationship, and within switchy or fluid relationships. as well as what switching means as an identity and how to get our needs met. This class isn’t just for self-proclaimed switches: Anyone whose desires don’t fit neatly into a single category will find tools for navigating relationships and negotiating scenes.

What to Expect:
All virtual classes are live on Zoom. You’ll receive everything you need via email as soon as you register. Most are two hours long, including time for Q&A. Can’t make the class time? Classes will be recorded, so if you can’t attend live, you can still get all the info, as long as you register before the class starts. Recordings will be available to watch until the next series of classes begins. After that, the only way to access them will be via the recorded class library on Patreon. (Classes get added there two months after the original series.)
Get Licked! is for everyone: queer, straight, trans, cis, binary, non, monogamous, polyamorous, kinky, vanilla, and all other folks are welcome. Be kind to each other and help each other learn. We are here in community.
Many classes include activities to help you grasp material and build skills. Participation is encouraged, but never required. Listen to your body, and do what feels good for you.
